Service taught him
how much people
can carry without
anyone knowing.
Richard Wooten’s work is shaped by military service, law enforcement, ministry, chaplaincy, counseling preparation, leadership, writing, and the lived truth that strong people can survive for years without feeling whole.
Richard A. Wooten is a Christian counselor, spiritual coach, mentor, ministry builder, United States Army veteran, retired Chicago police officer, pastor, chaplain, business owner, instructor, writer, and founder of The Gathering Point Counseling, Coaching & Wellness Center. His work brings together biblical truth, pastoral concern, practical leadership, counseling insight, relational support, trauma-aware reflection, and lived experience.
Richard speaks especially to men, couples, families, veterans, first responders, pastors, ministry leaders, and people who have carried pain silently while continuing to perform strength publicly. Through The Gathering Point, he helps people recognize what is not normal, heal from hidden wounds, move from performance to partnership, and recover God-given purpose.
His voice is pastoral, direct, compassionate, and change-oriented. The work does not shame survival. It honors what helped a person make it through while asking whether survival has become the only way they know how to live. Richard’s recurring invitation is simple: tell the truth, receive wise support, and build one faithful change at a time.
